RE: [ST] Milky oil anyone?

Thanks to john, rich, howlin dawg, dan and blake for the feedback. All coming in useful.

I've also spoken to Triumph-ant in Wales who do re-con lumps and an engine tecky at Triumph HQ itself (good blag, eh?), plus my local bike-shop who are pretty damned good most of the time.

The conclusions from this accumulation of info seem to be:

: They rarely do head-gaskets. Rich, I sniffed my exhaust (ooerr) but nothing. However, its using so little water I'd be surprised if my two-stroke savaged snozz could pick it up.
: They also rarely leak past the liners. The caulk-like sealant is actually Silicone sealant, although not your everyday wack it round the hot-tub stuff of course :-).
: They are prone to cracked water jackets if they've been overheated. Usually starts with a small water loss which gets worse over time, exactly the symptoms I've had. I bought the bike with 17k on it and its used a bit of water since day one, so it could've been OH'd in its former life.

Out of interest, anybody used Triumph-ant for any spares or a new lump? Sandy was pretty helpful on the phone, but you can't beat a third party recommendation.
