In France, to be able to drive a motorcycle, we have to take courses and pass a track/road test.

One of the first things we learn is the effect of countersteering to drive a bike.

Track tests are a mix of technique. Generally (it varies with the bike), countersteering is necessary above 35-40km/h (22-25 mph) when it is not below. If you make the test in turns where the speed is nearly this one, try below and just above, you feel the difference.

In general bike schools prefer to use roadster against trail bikes because the coutersteering action is more obvious (due to shorter handlebars). 
The fastest track test we have to pass to get the license even if not very high in speed cannot be assumed without strong countersteering.

Knowing that and paying attention to what I do, I was able to feel that I also used countersteering on a bicycle (more obvious also on road bicycles than VTT).
