[ST] Flat Repair

A guy I work with went riding with his friend, and after 60 miles the guy got a roofing nail in the rear tire.

They limped to a gas station and fil it up with air but it lost air shortly thereafter.  After about 4 hours of screwing around they finally got home.  

He asked me if I had any ideas.  Therefore I ask our list of information:

What is best to carry with you so you can fix a flat if you're out in East BF?
