Yes, if you have the experience I think you do you shouldn't have much
trouble. I assume you've had the front wheel off before and know how to align
the pickup on re-installing the wheel? That's the hardest part...

With the pickup loose, you should be able to look down into it and see a dark
brown cylinder. It's about an inch or so tall, about a quarter inch thick,
and about 1.5 inch in diameter. Don't quote me on that, it's all from faded
memory...

Use a right-angle dental pick if you have it to go all the way down inside the
middle of the cylinder and hook the wall so you can lift the magnet out.

I didn't know anything about this the first time I did it and using a
screwdriver scratched up the inside of the magnet a little but that's
harmless.

Clean out the crud, lube inside wall of pickup and outside wall of
magnet with white lithium grease.

Also check the metal tabs that drive the magnet around on reassembly to make
sure they haven't flattened down to where they don't engage anymore.

And you may want to search the archives as I think I detailed this long ago.

Hope it helps!

PS: since you've been looking at switch housings and wiring diagrams, do you
see a way I can get my hazards back on an '03?
