I lost the front of my RS between two bends when I panic-braked due to
inexperience.  I never did work out why the front went because the
fierceness was nothing to what I can use now.  There were a lot of car
parts in the ditches at the spot (all broken up due to collisions), so I
can only assume that a small piece of plastic or similar was under the
wheel when I hit the brakes; I never saw anything though, patch or
otherwise.

with their rear brake on certain approaches in the hope that they will

skid.
The other week, on teh Aberdeen to Inverness road, even cars were
skidding 
off roundabouts as something had spilled on all of them on its route.
I lost a 99 ST the other year to a dreaded diesal spill.
