Re: [ST] another dumb question



Marc,

There's no rubber wire cover on my RS either, only the large rubber
ring on the housing -- might be just on the domestic market bikes.

Wiggling that big connector about while pulling on it seems to help,
but unplugging it is infinitely harder than plugging it back in.

You may feel the bulb pulling against the spring clip, and somewhat
out of its seat in the headlight shell, and the rubber ring hinders
holding the bulb while pulling on the connector.  I always envision
the clip retaining tab breaking off.  Now that I've had one break and
have repaired it, I don't worry as much.

I routinely spray out the connector with contact cleaner and apply a
light coat of dialectric grease to the bulb prongs, but it doesn't
seem to help at all when I next need to remove the connector...
