Mike,
I've never had that happen in 20k+ with my RS. AFAIK that light is an
indicator of low oil pressure but as to what might cause this for the
first few minutes of a ride I can't say for sure. I wouldn't ride it
until I made it stop, kinda sounds to me like "I was having a heart
attack but I just ran until it stopped."
As far as the dreaded oil question is concerned my bike still runs on
liquid gold - that is to say the Triumph branded Mobil 1.
