I'm sure you are right when you look at 'real world' riders abilities - but I'm sure I have seen more than one magazine article that put top riders (such as Ron Haslam I seem to recall) on bikes with ABS - standard finding is they can stop more quickly with ABS turned off than when it is on. Maybe that is for old ABS, perhaps latest systems are better.
