I remember those Hondamatics. But those were based upon a fluid torque converter this looks to be similar to the F1 technologies for shifting. Now this could be kinda cool. Think about the shortened shift response time, lack of missed shifts. I dunno, but I think I could like this (scooter reference aside). The new FJR is heading this route too.

Also, Honda did try to go the automatic transmission route before. 
During late 70's and early 80's they had the CM400A, CB400A and the 
CB750A with the "Hondamatic" transmission. Wasn't very popular, was it?
