David,

Some time we get paranoid. But given the size of the frame, I can't imagine that. Twisting
the frame appends in major crashes. The frame is suppose to handle two people on it even passing on bumps
or potholes. But you say it's the pump mounting plate that is touching. It's on the side of the bottom part of the tank, right? Did you imagine that this plate could be shifted backward a bit (just a thought). If I remember, back home, I will have a look at mine.

The more I reflect to that the more I think it's impossible. I draw a schematic figuring out the strength (engine weight) and it simply is not possible. Not enough energy.

Was your bike salvaged? Did you experienced a real crash yourself on this bike? Did you notice that the engine mounting points moved engine versus frame? Did you experience some troubles removing the tank bolts?

I only heard on this list about shrinking tanks because of faulty or inverted breathing valve.
