Steve,

Sorry to hear about your fall. Collarbones are a bitch. Broke mine when I
crashed my first ST. I remember that Vicodin was my "new best friend" for
the first week. I crashed on Sunday and the hospital where I went put me in
a harness that went over each shoulder and crossed in the back. Mostly,
it's just inconvenient. I did stay home for the first week. The purpose of
the harness is just to keep your shoulders immobilized and in alignment
until the bone mends itself.

So, from Sunday until the following Thursday, I was on Vicodin. Man, does
that sh*t control pain!!! Finally get in to see the orthopod. What's the
first thing he does? Asks me what I'm taking for pain. I say Vicodin. He
says "no you're not". Then prescribes something else. Seems like Vicodin
has this nasty, little habit of becoming habit-forming.

I was about 56 at the time. Took about 3 months to get to about 90% healed.
The next 10% takes about 3-6 months longer. The only other thing that I did
was to go to a physical therapist to get the flexibility back in my
shoulders.

Again, really sorry to hear about your fall. Thankfully this is something
from which you can fully recover.
