I'd say that the gearbox takes longer to break in than the motor.
I've had three 955s and they've all broken in differently.
My '99 was silky smooth and powerful after just two or three thousand miles.

The '02 took longer to loosen up but was certainly strong by the first
official service. With 2000 miles on the clock she dynoed in at 123BHP at
the crank.

The '04 motor was silky right from the crate but the gearbox only started to
loosen up at around 8'000 miles. I'm still not sure whether the improvement
was due to breaking in or a switch to Mobil-1 fully synth. Probably the oil.
