I use a set of www.neckmike.com . It's cheap and works pretty well. The
quality of the throatmike is perhaps not hifi, but I was able to talked relaxed
to my mom on the phone at 180 km/h. I did not use the standard plugs though
but my own, which actually fit me much nicer than any custom made earplug
that I used in the past 10 years. Especially because they stay in the ear,
they're just as comfy for me too: http://piloot.smugmug.com/gallery/733261

Sound quality from the phone (with built in radio and MP3) to plugs is
excellent.
I have 10 sound levels, it's normally on level 3 which is fine for listening to
the news and speedtrap reports at 200 km/h. With the button I can active
my voice commands (to turn radio on or off or to call someone) or switch
to different channels, or to pick up the phone.

So the mike could perhaps be better (important to position the mike in the
right spot, it stays there quite good though) and you have to learn to speak
at a very normal, low level (somehow you tend to want to shout at higher
speeds, but that makes it unreadable). But it enables a quick call or pick
up and I've even had long conversations and for it's price it has the best
sound quality (to listen), best hearing protection (same plugs) and doesn't
need any extra wiring, batteries or control panels on the bike.

Simple, but effective. I think it's sufficient even when you want to use it
for intercom use (you can hook it up to a portophone). You can call the
telephone number on the site (Swedish number) to listen to the sound
quality from the mike (I actually never listened to that).
