Perfect explanation for the more technically educated people. As you may have noticed, I have a propensity to use analogies to explain/demonstrate things. Somewhere along the line I picked that up, and tend to do it maybe too much. <shrug>

I look at it this way -- picture a sine wave -- spring rate affects the
amplitude (up and down movement) and damping effects the frequency (and
thus how many oscillations occur before it stops)
