I've fallen into that trap once already.
They're vacuum lines and ordinary rubber tubing will collapse in use as it's
designed to resist expansion under pressure rather than to resist collapsing
in a vacuum. So make sure to buy a suitable replacement and save yourself
some head scratching. The three corrugated  vacuum lines from Triumph only
cost me 15 euros to replace which isn't unreasonable.
