Re: [ST] Thai Triumph

I don't care where the bits are made, just who designs the bike and how
well it hangs together.

Now if they would start making bits here in South Africa, there might be
scope for a tax specialist to work in the bike industry here.

Quite curious: we have a huge car manufacturing base, all the right hand
drive Beemer 3 series and Merc C class cars are assembled here for world
wide export (but the bits come from all over ).

Last year the RSA Merc operation won the award for highest quality Merc
manufacturing plant world wide.

Nissan, Toyota and Ford all have big manufacturing operations here.
There is a big industrial base for vehicle manufacture, reasonably cheap
labour (just look at my take home pay!) but zero bike manufacturing.

Come to think of it: Oz also has a big car manufacturing industry - but
no bikes.
