Re: [ST] Move MotoGP East!

I agree with you. Watching all the races, while Laguna may be an AWESOME track to ride, I'm generally disappointed in the racing. After the start, it appears that the riders are a bit handcuffed on good places to pass. Passes seem to be made from mistakes of the other rider (running wide), or really having to push it/stuff it. You can see from the aerial shots how much narrower the track is than most GP and World tracks (it looks like on motorcycles there are only two lanes even on the straights; and anybody see the World Superbike at Brno?? That track was WIDE), and again while the flow and ride might be awesome, there are not enough sections for racing to be exciting. There is passing into the corkscrew, the last turn, and maybe some if the guy in front doesn't do it great at turn 2 and maybe heading up the hill. I personally think Road America might be the best track for the GP race - most riders consider it to be the most "GP-like" of the American tracks. But
I'm sure that in America, the location is considered inadequate (it's not near one of our marquee cities, or in one of our "premier" states). But people would go anyway. And even Barber, Road Atlanta, and VIR are better venues for better racing in my opinion.

Move the damn race. Laguna has history and is cool, but there are better tracks for more enjoyable racing.

Maybe if FIM keeps having gripes, they'll come to their senses and move the race east. There are plenty of venues to pick from. Road Atlanta, Barber, Daytona just to name a few.

Politics aside, there are much better tracks to have the event.
