Go to CycleBuy.com and get a pricing report ($15? $20?). Last year, Kawi offered dealers a $1000 incentive on the 10R. I nearly bought one. Note that they were not obligated to pass that along to the customer. It was a factory-to-dealer thing. At the time, you could find a 2005 10R for $8000 plus TTT, so $9000 sounds good unless they have incentives on.
I demo'd a 2006 10R a month ago. Nice bike. Very fast, but also very controllable. Not an uncontrollable beast at all (the rep the 2004/2005 had). Full-on sportbike ergos, but I was comfy enough. Of course, I manage to put in full days (400+ miles of twisties) on a 2005 ZX-6R and I'm 6'3".
