but consider this - 

although I agree with you that Laguna is not the best track in the world and it has it's own challenges, what really works is the supporting area that can accomodate all the people. Plus it is 30 minutes from the Ocean, Carmel, Highway 1 to Big Sur, Monterey, Cannery Row etc. Try to pull this off in hot and dry (no alcohol) Salt Lake City. Or Barber - what interesting areas are around there to support 150,000 people for four days? Are there enough hotel rooms?
