Same thing happened to mine when the bike was about 6 months old. Got it 
replaced under warranty though. I was also shocked that the unit sold only 
as an item. Actually the cover glass is glued onto the assembly and once in 
a while it pops off due to a bad seal or bad glue joint. I also heard that 
it is a common item to fail. Actually if you look on my LAB profile, in the 
group shot it's missing. I lost mine somewhere on the Crest.
