Re: [ST] Low Speed Damage

No - not one bit. If you look through the fairing from the side, you will see the torx bolt mounting the upper engine to the frame. That's where the frame slider goes in, and comes straight out through the fairing.

Ok, with that said....
Do you have to cut the bodywork at all to install sliders on an '01 ST?

A note on all of these stories, and the complaints on fairing damage: get
yourself some frame sliders for $70. Most people think of these things as
high-speed crash protection. But (my own story) one time when I was at a
gas station that had some pumps that were full service and some that were
self service, I was circling while my focus was reading/looking high up (the
top canapy is where it stated this), and all of a sudden I found that I was
paying attention enough to my circling - was going to slow for my circling
lean. Well the bike started to go down. Like most others, I fought it so
that it was more "placed" on the ground gently than an outright fall. The
bike sat on the frame slider, never toughing any of the ST's plastics to the
ground. Picked it up - all was fine.

Food for thought - a few bucks well spent given the cost of the plastics.
They protect the plastics in riding crashes, low speed get-offs, and even if
someone were to knock it over while parked.
