1 - oh geez - not a tire thread.......The Avon's are good, as are other tires.  Many people like the 45/46ST set.  You can't go wrong with them unless you are hitting the track, or doing that sort of riding on the road.  Stick with the standard size 120/70 - 17 on the front and 180/55 - 17 on the rear.
 
2 - four pads needed on the front (two for each caliper).  Getting any EBC's from any distributor will be a decent pad.  There is a whole other discussion on type (HH stopping power but harder on rotors, etc.....)

1. What tires are the best in terms of performance and wear?  I've liked 
Avons on my Guzzi.  What size do you recommend?  I'm a little more of a
