OK....just seen your sig.  I guess we both agree then, you had a GP100U :)
I think the U also had a rev counter as well as other 'luxuries'

- on my first bike - a Suzuki GP100 two stroke - produced 1986, bought by
me 
1995.
It also had a kickstart, useless 6V magneto electrics, lighting that
combined 
low output with short bulb life, indicators that flashed sometimes, a horn

that was almost audible, and a carb that would ice up solid (sticking the 
throttle open) at the slightest provocation

Mine did have the 'luxury' of alloy wheels and a front disc though, most 
versions didn't :)

It would do stoppies and, if you sat on the pillion seat rather than 
contorting yourself into the midget-sized 'proper' riding position, you
could 
do rather good wheelies off the throttle.

In retrospect it was fun, but at the time all I wanted was a CBR600. I did
get 
one, 3 years later... with a GS500 in between.
