Well, maybe maybe not.  I too am not crazy about the AMA changing the Formula Xtreme class to 600cc, that's not "xtreme".  And changing the Daytona 200 from Superbike to the new 600cc class sucks too.  I believe it was lobbied hard by Honda so they can push the CBR600RR show room sales.

But you have to admit, they do run lap times almost as fast as the SuperStocks were running.  That's pretty impressive to have a 600cc motorcycle run laps about 2-3 seconds off what a 1000cc motorcycle will do.

Right, wrong, or indifferent, that's the way they allowed the sport to evolve.

Now the factory teams are whining about Buell running their bike.  It will be interesting to see what becomes of that.

But any win in a Formula Extreme Daytona 200 should not count.  When they 
were 750cc two strokes and later Superbikes it was a real win, but now it 
only means fastest factory Honda guy.  Wins in this race as now configured 
diminish the accomplishments of Dale Singleton, Scott Russell, and Mat 
Mladin.
