Re: [ST] 955 motor

The leak down test pointed to rings or scored cylinder after talking to
the mechanic this morning. Last year I had oil in the offending
cylinder, but didn't have the testing done. So there was an issue at 64k
miles. I did an IBA coast to coast ride and an ss5000 without any
problems. I guess once I knew there was a problem, I am paranoid
thinking about taking it anywhere in this condition. Another question
while on the subject of engine life and rebuilds is what if the
cylinders need a rebore? Triumph doesn't even offer over sized pistons
as far as I am aware, thus bringing home the throw away mentality of the
manufacturer. It all comes down to cost. It isn't cost effective to
have a motor rebuilt when it can be replaced with a low mileage used
one. I will decide what I am going to do in the next few days. I am
leaning towards keeping it and putting another motor in it and tearing
the existing one done to see what it looks like in there. If the bores
are in spec and it just needs a hone, I could rebuild for a reasonable
price if it is done at home. It seems shop labor is a killer.
