Re: [ST] Nut won't budge

OK, so I go out to the garage to give it another go. I've been setting the torque wrench so that I can fully measure how frustrating this is. The latest.....230 ft-lbs!!!! (that's 312 N-m for you metric folk). That's ridiculous, impact wrench or not. And with all that force, the nut isn't even budging the slightest - nothing - no movement. GRRRRRRRRR......

I removed that nut to clean out the eccentric hub when I replaced the
chain. I don't remember any particular trouble but I have a good
impact wrench that I probably used on it.

If you don't already have one, an air compressor and impact wrench
are probably cheaper than a trip to the dealer... :) For other
options, particularly good penetrating oils that I've used are PB
Blaster and Deep Creep Sea Foam. I don't believe WD40 is a
penetrating oil at all. Spray on a good penetrating oil, then tap
the nut with a hammer to help the oil penetrate through the corrosion.

If you are going to replace the rubber bits, then heat from a propane
torch might loosen the corrosion which is probably binding the nut.
