Also, unless needed, the narrower profile makes it easier to
squeeze the bike into the garage between the cars and kids' toys.

Cleaner look.  I don't really like the look of the horizontal
pipe.  The
canned answer is more lean clearance, but I doubt I'll ever test
that.
