1)don't bother. Really no point. It's not a dragster.
2)I suspect that the mapping set a too big timing advance when
full open trottle condition at low rpm. Apparently, ping a little from
time to time is a way of getting rid of the coal on the piston and valves (I discussed the subject w/ a colleague motorist engineer).
But too much melt the piston. In addition, as there is detonation instead of
fire, you loose power (as you experienced I guess). Thermal energy intead of mecanical energy.
3)On the 02 ST, it's a stick. It append to me to have a too hight level. I adjusted it to be right at the higher
level mark and not above. Checking that point on a regular basis, it's not moving even in a year.
