If you are a Brit in France then the chances are your plastic won't work
at petrol stations :-(  Every year I have been assured by the banks that
they will work and every year they won't.  Just make sure you have plenty
of Euros and wait for a sympathetic motorist.  I have had to ambush French
car drivers like this several times now.
