[ST] Arrg, Ahoy...back onto ST stuff

Ahoy mateys! I have a question get us back on track. 
   
  I want to remove the front plastic chain guard cover (primary drive cover?) on me ST. And was wondering if there is anything I should be considering when approaching this task. I have not found anything specific in the shop manual about it, so am I safe to assume that it is straight forward and will not be regretting my actions when I need to replace some mystery gasket? I want to clean the old chain gunk out of it as it is still flinging crap everywhere.
