As long as the oil level is about midway between the top and bottom level 
indicators on the site glass, with the bike on the centre stand, on level ground 
and the bike is cold, you are good to go.

Sprint ST's can use a bit of oil between oil changes. My 99 ST used to use 
about half a litre between oil changes. This is acceptable providing its not 
obviously burning or leaking oil.
