Re: [St] Start problem ST 99

I had this problem once on my 99 ST.

The problem was lack of fuel somewhere in the system indicated by a very
different sound when the motor is turning over with your thumb on the starter.
Almost like a high pitch whine.

To get the fuel to flow again I turned on the ignition and quickly turned the
throttle to fully open then let it close again. I hit the starter and the
sound changed momentarily, I'm guessing indicating that the fuel system was
"priming". A little more throttle while turning the motor over and she eventually
fired. It ran rough for a while but eventually came good and got better after a
couple of heat cycles.

Hope this helps.
Brett.
