Gavin, that same single attachment point can be changed to be the handlebar mounting point too. Might free up some space for you. Just a thought.

Thanks! Very helpful.

Now have the Zumo :) but restricted so far to navigating around the 
house... but looks good so far.

I'm pretty sure the tank based positioning will interfere with my tank 
bag (the very effective Motopak - thanks to Neil Lindsey for the tip 
earlier this year in this list), so am probably going to try the LH 
handlebar mount as first option.

I'll keep a log of how I get on and at some point / where post some 
pictures of how it works out...
