Re: [ST] synthetic oil

I could be wrong, but my suspicion is that very few of the mechanics at
Triumph dealerships are ever 'officially' Triumph-certified, which would
require them to go to Triumph school

Torco makes good oil (good chain lube too) -- and AFAIK a Triumph dealership
can sell whatever oil it wants (not sure they are even required to stock the
Triumph stuff, but certainly they can & do offer alternatives)

the other term you will sometimes see on oil container labels is 'friction
modifiers' and this can (to some extent) be considered similar to EC. The
trouble is that there are many different formulations used by the various
manufacturers and you will be hard-pressed to learn the details -- in any
event, the Wal-Mart stuff is excellent oil and it has not been a problem for
me and many others on this list -- it's full-synthetic too :)

Cheers
