Re: [ST] Sooty suggestions?

Hi Richard

I have seen it do a 'down to the bottom and back to somewhere' check on
switch-on. There's no positional feedback so it relies on assuming that
each pulse-set results in a one-step movement.

I guess the ECU may bang it into the endstop to ensure it knows where it
is!

Sounds like a very similaar problem I had with my RS. Turns out my air
intake idle plunger was severly sooted and would not adjust properly for
idle air intake. Once I took it off/apart and cleaned it with 90%
rubbing alcohol using a cute tip, everything was back to the way it
should be.

I took it out last night and like you said it was sooty, especially the
side with the four vents at the FI side.

Do you know if I should see it move up and down when I switch the
ignition on? Does it do some kind of position resetting thing?

Oh, thanks for all the replies on and off list. Fingers crossed that
I'll have a smoooth ST again for the weekend :o)

Cheers,

Andrew
