Re: [ST] New rider to the list



the main complaint is not stopping power, but rather excessive lever
travel -- surely you must have experienced this phenomenon -- and it is my
understanding that a larger MC will actually increase the lever pressure
required to affect the same braking power as before slightly (lever travel
will be reduced)

a long time ago someone floated the suggestion that Triumph 'deliberately'
did this to lower the risk of front wheel lockup in panic situations -- I
don't know if I buy that, and it would be nice if we could get input from
someone that has had experience with Nissen brakes on other motorcycle
brands

since you mention 'braided steel everything' on Superhawks, I might as well
mention that all Sprints use braided steel brake lines too -- the braiding
is just hidden from view

I agree with your overall perspective though -- Sprints have excellent
brakes and, for me anyway, the upgrade is not justified
