Re: [St] Chain & Sprockets

I went from the stock 19/43 to a 17/43. Fuel economy suffers a bit, but I wasn't driving long distances. For short commutes I don't need a 160 MPH top end. ;-) It's more fun having low end acceleration than high top end speed.

Anyway it's a steel front and an aluminum rear, and I don't have any problems. The aluminum rear is just fine.

My chain is an RK 530XSO style and it's got about 10,000 miles on it. No problems. The X style o-ring is good for keeping the seal. IMO - no matter what chain you buy, religious maintainance is what gets maximum wear. No matter how expensive the chain, if you don't maintain it it will not last. that's my 2 cents.

Subject: [St] Chain & Sprockets

Time for replacing my chain and sprockets, wondering about latest advice. I'm considering DID 530ZVM2 chain with either JT or Renthal sprockets (available through motorcycleonlinestore.com). JT are steel/steel F/R, Renthal are steel/alloy but are more costly.

I have stock 19/43 gearing, but probably going to buy both 18T and 19T sprockets to play around with. Also, I recall from previous postings that people had preference for staying with Triumph front sprockets.

Thoughts?
