Heck. My Arai helmet is seven years old and looks like new, except for the chin strap. It's because of the strap that I am now starting to look for a replacement.
I wear with a helmet liner keeping the inside clean. It's got over 32000 miles on it.
At $329 it was a bit expensive, but well worth it. I will probably go with an Arai again.
