I've read a bit of that thread and few others about GPS units on advrider.

I was just about to lay out my hard earned on a unit when I read of more than 
a few people that have had them literally falling apart after a relatively 
short time.

Considering that a decent unit on the island of Oz is $1000 or more, I'm 
treading very carefully on this one.
