Re: [St] New GPS

Had mine since Christmas. Love it.
To reverse route, save your starting point as a favorite, and when
returning select that fav and press go.
It syncs right up with my phone and head set when using it in the car.
Working on a carbon fiber mount which will hold the unit just below the
instrument panel, and mount to the yoke top nut (I bought an extra one
for $15 from the dealer so I can experiment. I repair carbon fiber
rowing shells as a hobby so I have access to lots of cf scrap and epoxy
resin) Details to follow (and good prices to liSTers) if it works.

Subject: [St] New GPS

I finally broke down and picked a new GPS last week. I bought a Garmin
Zumo 550. All I can say is "WOW"!!! It makes my Garmin 60C look like a

Commodore 64 vs a Mac. WOW!!!

The 550 includes everything from mounting hardware to the cables to
mapping software. It has enough memory to hold all the detailed maps of

the US and has some room for additional stuff. There are a ton of POIs
available on it with the capability to add more too. Lots of other
capabilities like sync'ing with your blue tooth headset or up to date
traffic info are there too.

I used it for a short ride (~100miles) Sunday and was extremely
impressed to say the least. The 3.5in non glare screen is easy to
read. It's easy to use (touch screen & buttons) with gloves on.

I would highly recommend anybody thinking about a new GPS give the Zumo
550 a really close look.

George
