No, no, no......DO NOT have the car running! The output of the cars alternator can damage the rectifying diodes in the bikes alternator!!!

?The proceedure of:

1. bikes ignition OFF

2.with the car NOT running, connect Positive to Positive and Negative to Negative

3.turn on bikes ignition and start.

4.disconnect jumpers negative first



?This will ensure no problems from the car systems.

the bike's starter draws exactly the same current from the car's system as
it would have drawn from its own battery, and regardless of whether the car
is running or not, but there are other reasons for not running the car which
have been covered already
