Re: [St] The Future of Motorcycling

I think we need a new class of cars. VW's trike demo got 45mpg and out
handled any car on the road. If it had a optional roof, it would have been
perfect. Oh yeah, $18,000. that's it!

The Ariel Atom is 1000lbs, 300 HP, 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, gets 30+ mpg and
will out perform most cars period. I *need* one! Watch the Top Gear spot
on the Atom as it destroys a CBR600RR on
YouTube<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWoo82zNUA>

How about a street legal quad? Fine in Europe! License them as a bike
because of their construction. All they need is lowered and a new limited
slip rear end.

If we make a new class of motorcycle based cars in trike configuration,
it might be a good stepping stone to greater cycle adoption.

Certainly, I'd love to have the VW trike or the Atom. You get all the
benefits of a bike (ok, parking maybe not), and none of the negatives
certainly when it comes to crashing.

And just to pi$$ you off, the new SMART car, which gets 60 mpg (gas) in
Europe, only gets 40 mpg here in the US. "Weight and Emissions" so they
say. Hmmm... Doesn't Europe have stricker emissions restrictions than the
US?
