[St] Clutch cover paint?

I dripped some gasket remover and now there are a few spots on my clutch
cover (99 ST) with no paint.  Cosmetically I'm ok with that because it's on
the forward end of the clutch cover which is pretty much covered by the
fairing.

Question...is it necessary to repaint to protect the magnesium or is leaving
the spots bare ok?
