Re: [St] New Fuel

Good luck Chris. There's no easy way for the valve heads to get to the oil sump. After they "bounce around" in the combustion chamber then it's through the piston to get there. What did the cylinder head look like ? This usually trashes them pretty good. Well have a fun filled rebuild.

Weather in the south of the UK is very pleasant. Unfortunately I found
two valve heads in the sump of the wife's car the other day and I'm
trying to get them back above the pistons, so a ride may not
materialise.

If I recall my university days, internal combustion engines have a
theoretical maximum efficiency of 45 percent. Not a terribly good place
to start!

One thing I have noticed when alternative energies come up as a good
idea, is that people tend to conveniently ignore where the primary
energy comes from. Put simply, every alternative still comes back to
fossil fuels. The problem we face is that so far there is no alternative
to oil. Every alternate energy requires oil at some point in its life
cycle. So in terms of net energy, you end up at a loss or at a profit
that is so small, its not worth the effort.

Anyway, thats to depressing to contemplate, so I'm off for a spin on my
freshly shod ST. Then I might come back and take my Scrambler for spin.

Hope the weather is warming up on the top half of the planet and theres
some good riding going on.
