Re: [St] ST 1999.Non running problem

John,

Did you have any problems on the long run? If not, then when you cleaned it
did you take off the body panels, gas tank, etc. for a thorough cleaning, or
was it just an 'external wash/clean'?. If you took it apart (esp. gas tank
off), then I'd make sure to re-check all of the electrical connections.
Also check to see that there is no build up on the battery leads (thick
paste of water and baking soda will clean it up right away). Make sure to
check all of your fuses. You may want to also consider disconnecting the
battery altogether and then reconnecting. This may reset the ECU. If this
works you may get your engine light 'on', but I found that after several
cycles of riding the bike, turning it off and on, that this light will also
go away. The other possibility is to go to an Auto Zone. They will plug
their computer into your bike and you will get a readout. Although they
won't understand the codes, you could then call a Triumph dealer and give
them the trouble shooting codes and give you an answer.

Hope that helps.
