I have been told by a couple people that the fuel level sender does not go
to the top of the tank and that from full it actually takes a couple of
gallons to get the sender to register anything else but full. This combined
with the shape of the tank, would explain the behavior that many of us have
seen - no movement for the first 120 miles, then a drop which increases its
rate of fall as you get closer to empty.

I checked the service manual but could find no mention of the actual length
of the sender, so my dealer was checking to see if anyone at Triumph could
confirm this. As of right now, still have not heard anything. If this is
the case however, then other than the yellow warning light problems, the
gauge is functioning as designed.

Once I get more info, I will pass it along
