Electrical System

I've got a new one for you. Tonight, as Richard & I were leaving a
restaurant, I put my key in, turned her to the "on" position,
straightened the handlebars, heard a pop that I assumed was kickstand
movement associated with me turning the front wheel, started her and
drove home. On the way, it slowly turned dark and I realized my
instrumentation lights were not on. My "bar" indicator lights were
still working. We got home and determined that the rear running light
and the little "half moon" light up front were not working either. She
blew the no.3 (5A) fuse. We also smelled something a little unsettling
when we got home--like electrical wires burning. Richard thinks that
maybe the half moon light blew, causing the fuse to blow. Still, this
would not cause the smell . . . .

Obviously, she's going to the shop the next time I get on her and I'll
keep the list posted. In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas?

By the way, remember my rear brake light that was out on one side? The
shop, when they took it around back, said the light was working then,
spent an hour looking & couldn't find a problem, pulled the bulb, and
found scarring on the lead contact that they believed caused
intermittent contact as a result of vibrations.
