it just seemed like a cheap mod but perhaps I might be better investing some

The vista cruise is a complete custom fabrication for the sprint. Unless
you are interested in saving a whole lot of cash and want to spend several
hours minimum to install it, I don't recommend you do it.
To install the control go to your nearest mot shop with these guys and
spend some time ironing out what will fit on you ride. I don't remember
which model I used but there are only two throttle slid assembly sizes on
the market on any moto to my knowledge. Get one that fits and you will need
to disassemble the throttle housing a set of very small drills, an exacto, a
file fine enough to use on the nylon, a low profile head screw, and lots of
time. There is only one good location to place the attaching screw on the
back half of the throttle housing ; tell you if you decide to do it.
Be sure you want to do it, and use the pics on the ST site to help in your
choice.
