190 ReTirement

Would a 190 tire last longer than a 180? Is the 10 mm difference seen in the center, or the outside edges (more of a lip), or both? I noticed '99 Speed Triples / Daytonas fitted with 190 tires on what appears to be the same wheel/chain/swingarm as found on the ST (I didn't measure it) without clearance problems. I know frame geometry is different on the ST. Does anyone see handling problems or other problems with this idea, or have experience.

Do the 180/55/R17 and 190/50/R17 tires have the same cricumference? If they were car tires, I know the 190 would have a smaller circumference by crunching numbers (distance from rim to outer tread being 99 mm for the 180 and 95 mm for the 190, making the 190 smaller in diameter/circumference). Assuming 17 inch rims exact, the circumference of the 180 would be 77.9 inches, and the 190 would be 76.9 inches. This would lead to about a 1% greater of the already great speedo error if this is true! This being the case, if the tires both last the same distance on the road, the 190's will appear to last longer due to more odometer miles shown! I guess this is insignificant! But anyways, aside from costing a little more, I think the 190 would look cool....or possibly a 200 if it will fit. I'll put the calculator away now!
