My friend and I did Highway 1 just last weekend, from Monterey to Lompoc
(i.e., East of Santa Barbara). We had absolutely great weather and a great
ride. Compared with last year, when Highway 1 was closed part of the year
and when opened had something like a 16 construction stops, this year isn't
bad. This year I think there were only 2 construction stops. Although my
friend thought the rode was rougher than he remembered it (i.e., last time
for him was a couple of years ago plus the suspension on his VFR was set up
for a race track, not real roads), it was just fine on my ST. There are
some other wonderful roads you might want to incorporate into your trip.
Which way are you coming from?
